You have done practically anything to solve problems, but somehow it does not change anything. So what are you supposed to do? You can’t keep living an unfruitful marriage forever.

When one sees that marriage is bound to fail and that there is nothing in it that could make one continues the marital relationship anymore, the last resort one can turn to is divorce. Marriage is a complicated system and needs more effort to succeed. When a marriage fails, the chances of it being repaired are close to none.

Failed marriages can also be mediated in other ways other than divorce on trial, since trials can take so long and consume a lot of money and time. However, we have to accept that the modern society obtains divorce by way of law and no other legal proceedings. The law still has the last say.

There exist cultures that view divorce with symbolism, like breaking of a tool or other items. In some parts of the world, divorce happens not only between the two married individuals but between the two families as well. A contract will be agreed upon which stipulates all arrangements that will satisfy both parties, and sanctioned by court of law. In some societies, divorce is also an economic issue. The individuals involved in the marital relationship need to come into terms for one party to repay the other.
